Given the unpredictable COVID-19 pandemic situation in Romania and in other countries over the world, the ISPDC 2021 edition will be held as a virtual conference (online event).

Cluj-Napoca is the second largest university pole in the country, hosting six high ranked universities and has an ever growing number of European and non European students that provides a high level of education an research.

Cluj-Napoca offers the possibility of training in different scientific and human fields at universities recognized both nationally and internationally. Every year, tens of thousands of students from Romania and other countries come to Cluj-Napoca to specialize in the fields required by the labor market. Universities offer bachelor, master and doctoral programs and with teaching in the several languages: Romanian, Hungarian, German, English and French.

Cluj-Napoca is the seat of Cluj County and the spiritual and economic capital of Transylvania as well as an influential industrial, academic and medical center. Driven by innovation, the city is becoming a major digital hub in Eastern Europe, where creativity, professionalism, resources and opportunities come together for the ultimate goal: shaping a better society.

The city was founded more than 2000 years ago and became famous as the “Treasure Town” because of the wealth it enjoyed during medieval times. Today, the town boasts a great number of archaeological sites, churches, cathedrals and monuments and has remained one of the most important towns in Transylvania, in terms of economy, academics and culture.

Cluj-Napoca is in constant evolution but is capable of maintaining the balance between old and new, between the modern high-tech buildings and the ancient architectural beauties and the narrow old paved streets.

ISPDC 2021 is hosted by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca which comprises twelve faculties in the two academic centers, Cluj-Napoca and Baia-Mare, as well as in locations, such as Alba-Iulia, Bistrita, Satu Mare and Zalau. The educational offer, aligned to the Bologna system, includes bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs, continuous training programs, as well as state-of-the-art research. The fields of study and research have a wide range, from engineering to architecture, fundamental sciences, socio-human sciences and arts.
